Case Study: Chemotherapy Gives Ferret A New Lease on Life

This ferret presented to us with breathing difficulties, he was being treated with antibiotics and did not respond to therapy. Radiography showed that he had a mass/tumor in his chest, and ultrasonography found that it was also it was present in his spleen and kidneys.

Ultrasound showing cancer in the spleen.

Ultrasound showing cancer in the left kidney. He was diagnosed with lymphoma and underwent chemotherapy with a combination of injectable and oral medications.

Post-chemotherapy radiographs show he improved dramatically after treatment. Chemotherapy is not a magic cure but in this case the patient gained an additional year of quality life, for which his owners are eternally grateful.
