About Our Service
At Charleston Vet Imaging, we make advanced diagnostics simple for both veterinarians and pet owners.
Our hospital features state-of-the-art CT technology operated by experienced technicians and interpreted by board-certified radiologists.
Due to equipment limitations, we can scan patients up to approximately 80 pounds for full-body studies; larger patients can be accommodated for head (skull) CTs only.
Being a dedicated imaging facility, we provide outpatient CT services only and can accept patients who fall within ASA Classification I–III.
It is the responsibility of your referring veterinarian to confirm that your pet meets these guidelines and is fit to undergo sedation and/or anesthesia safely.
Remember that most pets coming in for scanning are already ill, and just like humans, a very small percentage may experience a reaction to the contrast agent.
| ASA Class | Description | Example Patients |
|---|---|---|
| I | Normal healthy patient | Elective procedure, no systemic disease |
| II | Mild systemic disease | Controlled diabetes, mild heart murmur, mild obesity |
| III | Moderate systemic disease | Stable heart disease, anemia, chronic kidney disease |
| IV-V | Not accepted for outpatient CT imaging | Severe or unstable disease requiring hospitalization |
